Well, it happened today, and the journalist’s name is Keith Olbermann of MSNBC. In a passionate and scathing analysis of the Bush administration in general and Donald Rumsfeld in particular, he single-handedly showed me a light at the end of this long and desperate tunnel we, as Americans, have wandered into. I applaud both the substance and the passion with which he delivered this commentary on his nightly news program, Countdown. Now if some of our political “leaders” will show a bit of his moxy, we might just see off these miscreants once and for all. Here’s hoping so.

With global good will toward America at an all time low, the Bush administration is continuing to run the country into record deficits. Last year, Americans borrowed 80% of the world’s savings to buy stuff. To top it all off, our houses are worth less and less, and interest rates are bound to rise. Tom Friedman says we should get ready for the perfect storm.
