Nothing in recent memory has pointed out the polarizing effect of religion and pseudo-religion on the American psyche more than the Terri Schiavo case. I have watched the events unfold with great interest and have been both inspired and enraged in turn. First of all, I want to say that I think that the politicians who tried to make hay from this tragic affair are complete scumbags. The brothers Bush, Tom DeLay, et al. There have been so many instances of inconsistancy and politcal expediency, that I can imagine that even Karl Rove’s Ministry of Disinformation, must be blushing sheepishly.
Tom DeLay is a fool and a liar and a maggot of the first order. We can not let this S.O.B. try to dismantle the checks and balances afforded us by our founding fathers in the constitution because he was made to look the fool that he is by our judiciary. The guy pulled the plug on his own father, and rightly so, by all accounts, yet he has the gall to say that no one else should have the right to do so. Aaaarrgh!
What is this guy taking (besides “contributions”)?
As to the “culture of life” arguments coming from the bloodiest regime on the planet, well that is just plain laughable. We spend billions in legal, political, and media coverage of the last days of a woman who was absolutely oblivious to any of it, while every day we are killing thousands of lucid, vibrant, people, both directly and indirectly. If one life is so valuable, shouldn’t they all be? The hubris of the leaders of this country and their religious control freak cronies, is beyond comprehenson. Apparently the American people agree with me, because 80% of them say that Washington should have minded it’s own beeswax. Let the Great Purging begin.
